Statement on John Tory's Resignation

Last Friday, John Tory acknowledged making a serious error in judgement in his capacity as Mayor. I have deep respect for the Mayor's decision to step down and take time to reflect on his mistakes and do the hard work of rebuilding trust.

I appreciate the trust he showed in me as a new Councillor, and the opportunities he's facilitated for me to serve our City with compassion and through collaboration.

We have hard work ahead of us and many challenges to overcome. As elected officials, we must work together with public servants to provide stability to the City as we go through the process to choose a new Mayor.

In the coming months, I encourage you to show up, ask hard questions of candidates, and vote for a new Mayor who will commit to prioritizing housing, transit, and City initiatives that support the safety and wellness of all Torontonians.

I'm committed to working collaboratively to deliver on these priorities with my fellow Councillors, City staff, and the next Mayor of the City of Toronto.
