Etobicoke-Lakeshore is experiencing unprecedented growth in the way of residential development. While the need for housing is obvious, growth must be managed responsibly, considering the size and scope of each development.
Since 2023, two affordable housing projects within Etobicoke-Lakeshore have completed construction, delivering 62 new affordable rental homes. Three additional projects are currently under construction and will deliver 312 new affordable rental homes and an additional 507 rent-controlled homes to the Ward by September 2027.
There are an additional 19 affordable housing projects in various stages of the planning process in Ward 3, resulting in 1,800+ units.
Work has started on the Third Street Seniors’ Shelter, further supporting 50 residents on the pathway to secure housing.
