Through last year’s budget, we invested in the priorities you shared through consultation – including affordable housing, transit and community safety. In 2024, we:
- Moved close to 2,650 households from the Centralized Wait List into rent-geared-to-income homes,
- Moved 3,263 people out of shelters into permanent housing,
- Provided more than 2,200 loans and grants through Toronto Rent Bank to low-income households who needed help,
- Deployed traffic wardens to reduce travel time across the city by 33%, with a 96% reduction in vehicles blocking intersections,
- Froze transit fares and invested in more service, bringing service to 97% of pre-pandemic levels,
- Expanded the Toronto Community Crisis Service (TCCS), the City’s fourth emergency service, city-wide – leading to a 4.5% decrease for person in crisis calls to Toronto Police Services,
- Welcomed 97 new Operations Firefighters to Toronto Fire and 55 new Paramedic and Communication Centre frontline recruits to Toronto Paramedic Services,
- And so much more.
This year’s City budget process is underway, and I want to hear from you. What do you want to see the City invest in this year?
