New Vision Zero School Safety Zones in 2023
Etobicoke-Lakeshore will be getting four new School Safety Zones in 2023! A School Safety Zone is a designated stretch of roadway which includes school safety zone signs and a variety of measures such as watch your speed signs, improved pavement-makings, flashing beacons, among other possible improvements.
Since approval of the Vision Zero Road Safety Plan, the rate of implementation of school safety zones has been accelerated twice, leading up to the most recent commitment of completing 80 school zones per year and the ultimate goal of implementing enhanced pavement markings and signage to all public elementary and secondary schools in the city.
